Hell City – Wet Paint Project – 2012

The last Wet Paint Project that I was able to attend was at Mad Hatter Remains in February of 2011 the link for that one is HERE. Also the last tattoo convention that I tattooed at was Hell City the last time it was in Ohio. Hell City is as far as I know the best convention going in the States. All that being said, I had a pretty good idea what I was getting myself involved in and was super excited to attend.

We left Rochester in the middle of some weird butterfly event – that while feeling magical when we were home turned into the Great Butterfly Massacre once we were on the Highway.  Fortunately it was not a bad Omen of things to come. We arrived at the Hotel on Thursday night and after snacks crashed out for the night.

Friday morning we went out exploring and checked out the North Market which Paul and I somehow missed the last time we were in Columbus. Great food and plenty of options for everyone.

Friday when we headed over to the convention area a few of the artists had already set up.    Wet Paint project   Wet Paint Project

Holly and I picked out our spot and dove right in. Holly owns Always and Forever in Watertown, Mass Holly Azzara

Instead of bringing the paintings with me that I had started in this series (since I feel they needed too much corrections at this point) I just brought blank canvases and started them over again.

While most of us would be painting this weekend – Holly opted to work in another medium Project Barbies

That was it for Friday night. In looking at the photos on the camera back at the room, I decided that I wasn’t happy with the curve on the sternum and wanted to correct it first off in the morning (well, tattoo guy morning which is about 1:00 pm).

Goodbyes after weekends like this are hard. So many great people. It’s hard to say good bye and walk back into the real world day to day grind. Monday morning was much hugging and exchanging contact info. New friend requests on Facebook. New friends to follow on Twitter and Instagram and running around trying to catch everyone we might have missed.

Back on the road for a pretty uneventful trip home. Saw a small trailer fire trailer fire  and stayed well stocked up on Starbuck’s for the ride home: Birds nest in Starbucks logo

Back to reality (or as close to it as I normally reside)

Here is a photo that was taken of the group painting after we left on Sunday

Artists attending Wet Paint Hell City 2012

I am exceptionally grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with all of these amazing artists. Hoping to be able to attend future Wet Paint get togethers as well. Thank you to everyone in attendance and everyone I was able to visit with who was working on the Main Tattoo floor.

Much love and hugs,

TeeJay
