Changes to My Scheduling
For some time now I have been feeling overwhelmed. I have tried in the past to cut back on the number of new projects that I am taking on and while it has helped some…. the time has come to do something a bit more drastic.
I apologize in advance to any who may feel slighted. I am not judging you or your tattoo. I am not telling you that there is anything wrong with the style of tattoo that you would like.
What I am doing is cutting back on the projects that I am doing and focusing on a smaller variety of tattoos.
So for the foreseeable future I will be doing:
Portraits and Realistic Work
Custom Celtic Designs
Figurative, Pin-up and Fairies
No Outline Color & Black and Grey Work
Medical Tattooing (Reconstructive)
continuing work on existing clients
I will not be doing:
Reworks and Cover-Ups
Flash
Regular “outline” Tattoos
Small Single Point Tattoos
Japanese style Work
Text or Word based designs
Tribal (still)
Any tattoo pulled off of an existing tattoo on the internet
Anything that is not open for artistic interpretation or improvement
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and ask. There are a whole bunch of exceptionally talented artists at both of the shops. The time has come for me to step back on my tattooing and pass more projects along to them.

Hi TeeJay I’m interested in getting a fairly large back piece..(above bra strap to spanning to arms )
The main focus on a Mucha print: Night’s Rest from the times of day series. with alot of Art Nouveau add ons. I have definite ideas for the center but very open for creativity for the rest. I have it all together I just have to find a scanner.
What I liked about your work was your ability to create movement within fabric.
I’ve met with others and have been blown off, ripped off and pissed off. ..grrrr I understand about being to busy!! trust me, if you are uninterested I would respect your honesty, and possible direction, and recommendations.

I recently hit the big 50 and a few life challenges have inspired me to potentially collaborate with you on a custom piece that makes a positive statement about recent life/health challenges…. Mike, you are better (worse?) than an existing client – You’re an old friend. I’ll still work on you… but if your idea is stupid, I’ll just tell you so and not do it š I’ve known you too long to worry about hurting your feelings! You have to be used to me by now.

Love your philosophy and respect your need for contained hours. I am quickly approaching my 40th b-day and would like new ink to represent me. I have a general idea of what I want that incorporates fae and gemini but I am not an artist more of an idea-I-see-it-in-my-mind kinda gal so would love to talk to a true artist and see what they could pull from my brain and design for me. I am very sad that you are not excepting new clients at this time as a good friend of mine as well as yours ( jeff list ) told me about you and your work. Hi tj, for a while.now ive been wanting to get a tattoo, and have been searching for the right artist to do it.. today i was told to look up your work and it is absolutely amazing. With that said, i would greatly appreciate it if you could send me an email about when youll be looking to get into setting up appointments again. I am looking to get a native american theamed tattoo.. most likely a realistic( not cartoony) dream catcher in remembrance of my grandpa. thank you so much:)

Hi Teejay, You were referred to me by a friend and I see you are cutting back which I totally understand. So I am asking for some advice since I know nothing about tattoos. I am a breast cancer survivor ( not quite a year) and I did manage to train though out the ordeal and complete my first Ironman this past July. I was thinking of combining some type of Ironman logo, breast cancer ribbon, maybe triathlon figures into a tattoo, I am not sure. I do not know what kind of tattoo category this fits into or what other artist at your shop might have experience in this area. Do you have any suggestions as to where I might start??

What I always recommend is that you (or anyone) look at the artists portfolios first. We have a group of amazing artists split between two locations. All of them do beautiful work – and like all artists in any field, they all have their own styles.
If you look through the portfolios in person or online, you will get a feel for each artists’ style and taste. Find the one that is closest to how you imagined your tattoo to look – then contact that artist and talk with them about your idea. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. And congratulations on your first Ironman!!!
